Kyle Rupay is back in 2011!!

Here is a picture of Kyle rippin it up at the F.C.V last weekend. He has a new bike, fast legs and a great attitude!! That's why he will be back racing for us in 2011!! We are very proud of Kyle and everything he brings to our team. We really enjoy supporting and developing young riders and when they are as nice as Kyle is just makes everything we do so worth while. Ed Veal Wins the Centurion!

Its old news now but here is picture of Ed and Specialized rep Mr Kevin Winters after Ed won the Centurion up in Collingwood. Dave Viney - World Champion!

Dave won the world senior games for his age(60-64) in St George Utah last week.
Not only did he ride away from everyone on day 4 on the big climb half way through the race and stay away from a pack of 10 chasing for the win, in doing so he also set the course record for all the division 1 groups!! Congrats Dave!! Another huge win to be proud of!

Track Nationals 2010 - Rupay gets the gold!

Kyle Rupay gets gold in the junior mens team sprint at the Track Nationals!! Justin Zottl was on the podium getting Silver in the Madison and Krista took bronze in the sprint.

LaBici has a big weekend in Elliot Lake

There wasn't a lot of us there for provincials but the ones that did show sure cleaned up!
Dave Viney won the crit, Hill Climb and the RR for us in the master D cat. Merrill Collins was 2nd in the crit and won the RR to take the overall GC. Kyle Rupay was 2nd in the crit and took 4th overall in the GC, Krista Ruby won the crit and finished 4th in the GC, Ed Veal won the crit and finished 2nd overall in the GC, Osmond was 2nd in the crit and finished 5th overall in the GC, Darko was 3rd in the hill climb and 2nd in the RR and that got him 4th in GC.

Way to go Bici!!

Jamie Smith WINS the Tour De Terra Cotta

This could be one of the best cycling pics I've seen! Jamie just rode away from the breakaway group to solo in for the win showing dominate form. Jamie has been rock solid for our squad this year and we all knew he was on the verge of something big. Look for many more big results from this guy because he is only getting better. Bici had a lot of great results at Terra Cotta.
Krista won, Merrill won, Kyle was 3rd and big Colin was 3rd overall!!

LaBicicletta is killin it this year!

2010 has been a break out year for our cycling team. For many years this has been a small squad with a few seasoned veterans to lead the way. This year we took things to a whole new level and brought on some young talent to compliment the big guns we already had under contract and wow have things gone great!! I'm very pleased to say the Ontario Cup is back where is belongs at LaBicicletta. Merrill Collins and Ed Veal both won the Woman's and Men's titles in 2010 and we couldn't be happier about it.

There is way more to report and photos to follow! We need to brag about Darko coming second at Bike the Bruce and Jamie, Merrill and Krista all winning at Terra Cotta. Stay tuned....

It has been a crazy month and I apologize for this blog going dead over that period of time. Our team has been ripping it up and with all the training, racing and getting big results this blog has taken a back seat. I will do my best to get back on track, we have lots to report. Cam Jette 2nd at Albion!

Cam Jette!! OUR Cam Jette pulled off a huge second place this past Sunday in the Elite mens MTB o-cup at the Albion Hills. That's right!! Bici has a MTB'r folks!! And he's incredible!! Congrats big man! Keep up the great work!

Dr Phil is a daddy!!

Phil Palmer's wife Josie gave birth to twins this past Wednesday!! A boy and a girl!! Lets welcome our two newest members to the elite team........Phil Jr and Valentina!!! Congratulations

Ed Veal wins the Midweek CC Tuesday night Crit to make it 3 for 3 in 2010!! Oh.. and that's the second time this year he and Jamie Smith have lapped the field! Congrats to everyone on the team who made it out, you were all over this race and helped Bici dominate from start to finish!!

Jamie Smith 3rd at SPRINGBANK!!

The pace was incredible from the gun and the attacks came from every where. We were pretty solid as a team and Jamie worked like a dog to be in the right move and take it to the line for 3rd! Jamie has been on a tear lately and has been an amazing pick up, he has really improved our team from last year. He is having an incredible season and the scary part is he is getting better with every race!!

Please print off the form from www.labicisquadra.com and bring it with you to the ride tonight. The form will be updated soon but for now just print off last years and mark either $150 membership (non-racer) or $100 if you plan to race our team colors. Jamie Smith makes it 2 for 2 at the Midweek Crit!

The Elite team dominated again last night making it 2 for 2 on the season! Jamie was a bull all night! He was in every move and then just rode away from his break group with 3 to go. Big thanks to the boys at Jet Fuel for bringing 5 guys and making things fun!! See you next week!

Midweek Crit Series - LaBicicletta Domination!

Last night was the first night of racing at the Tuesday night crit series put on by the Midweek C.C.

After years of crushing the field every week we wanted this year to start like no other. Heath Cockburn set the standard for laying all out on the road and punishing anyone who showed up on a Tuesday and the past two years Ed Veal has followed in his footsteps hurting anyone who dares to go off the front with him. Our new crew in 2010 was out to dominate from the gun and they sure did not disappoint!! Ed Veal and Jamie Smith attacked 1 lap into the race and got away with Anton Varabei. It wasn't too long before Anton had enough of the hard paced rotation and popped. Ed and Jamie continued to creep towards the back of the charging pack. It took an hour but with 2 laps to go they got on to the back of the group (lapped the field) and rode through it with 1 lap to go and sprinted to victory!!

It was quite the night and a great way to start the season!! Congrats to all the team members who made it out and helped by shutting things down in the pack.

Calabogie Classic

Nothing like a closed course with perfect pavement!! The Calabogie Classic went this past Sunday and we had a few good placings. Ed Veal 4th, Osmond Bakker 6th and Jamie Smith 11th in the senior men's 1/2 race and Krista Ruby was 5th in the S1/2 women's field. Tom Jehlicka Crit is this coming weekend and the first Midweek crit is TONIGHT!!!

Aurora Club Ride

We meet every Wednesday night all summer long at the Starbucks at Aurora Rd and 404 hwy.

This is for team and club members only. Get your membership forms and waivers in ASAP! You can bring them with you to the ride. Ride starts at 6pm and we ride till sun down. Then its off to the Keg patio for an ice cold beer (not included with membership) Non-members can ride with us once during the course of the year so come check it out!

LaBicicSquadra Juniors Kyle Rupay and Justin Zottl spent Friday being tested at the Canadian Sport Center in Toronto.
Tests showed they were ready to take on Hell of the North Sunday morning.

April 11th 2010 - Our 2nd annual Hell of the North presented by Rapha went off this past Sunday and we couldn't be more pleased with the conditions, the weather and the attendance. 90 riders took the start line in hopes of conquering the epic 90km Hell of the North course. Erik Box (Devinci Cycles) proved to be in great form AND the toughest of the group taking the HOTN title in 2010. Erik out sprinted Derek Hardinge (Lapdogs) and Cam Jette (LaBicicletta Elite team) in a close sprint to take home the coveted "Hell and back" trophy. Thanks to all our volunteers, bike club/team members and sponsors for making this such a great event.

Cam Jette looks to repeat at the HOTN!!

Last years champ will be back to defend his title in 2010! But this year he is racing for us!! A big signing for our team in the off season, Cam Jette will be at his best and ready to take home again the prized HELL OF THE NORTH trophy that was presented to him by Mr Barry.

We look forward to seeing you all on Sunday morning, the weather looks great and the course is in fine form. I've had dozens of emails about tires and I say semi slicks are the way to go. You can ride a road bike, cross bike, MTB at this one....its your call. Just know your going to get a little dirty and you might want a shoe you can run in : ) Keep the $500 carbon sole beauties for another day!

You can register day of first thing in the morning. We will be set up and ready to go for 7am with the race starting at 9am Sharp!!

LaBicicletta Elite Team - Domination at FCV

Team LaBicicletta Elite Youth Stick Together and Win Together at F.C.V.

"On April 3rd, the Forest City Velodrome hosted a night of elite racing for Canadian and American track riders.
The women raced for a cash prizes and preems of over $1000 in the first annual Mary Kelly Memorial Race.
Team LaBicicletta's youngest riders were there to support each other on and off the track, and did so very well.

LaBicicletta's Krista Ruby fought with a very strong field for 100 laps to earn a well deserved 2nd place finish.
Krista was also very successful in earning extra cash by winning all preems.

On the Men's side of track, Junior Racers Kyle Rupay and Justin Zottl battled with the elite men in a Sprint tournament, Madison and an Endurance race.
Kyle was eliminated in round two by the eventual winner and Justin made it to the third and final round and took a second place finish.

In the Madison, seven teams competed. Kyle and Justin racing as Team LaBicicletta lapped all but one team and won the tournament.
In the final men's elite endurance scratch race, Kyle took a hard fought fourth and was the youngest rider left on the track.
Both Kyle and Justin also won their share of preems.
